Spacecom, a Brazilian company that develops and operates electronic monitoring hardware and software for individuals under legal restriction, such as those on parole and probation, has adopted the Acceleronix Managed IoT Connectivity Platform. The company, which has more than 18 years of experience in the custody monitoring field, has been identified by analyst firm Berg Insight as the third largest company in the world in the prisoner monitoring sector. Spacecom has monitored more than 600,000 people and has around 100,000 active devices across all Brazilian states.

“We are using the Acceleronix Managed IoT Connectivity Platform in our main solution, named SAC24, which is responsible for monitoring approximately 100,000 people simultaneously,” explains André Luciano Dias, the Engineering Manager at Spacecom. “Our product helps public agencies address a serious public safety issue at a much lower cost compared to traditional alternatives and our solution is highly adapted to the adverse scenarios in which it operates, as prison systems often do not receive adequate public investment.”

Spacecom provides SAC24 in the form of a panic app, a monitored app, a web system and a portfolio of Bluetooth and cellular tag devices which are worn by convicts. Data loads can be substantial with the system processing 24-hour monitoring data. The system can be used to support prisoners in ensuring they are complying with their restrictions and by administrators to ensure rules are not broken.
